The course is designed to be taught in a relaxed classroom setting and then reinforced with practical exercises. This training is a series of robust, hands on, scenario driven exercises specifically designed for personnel that travel to and operate in hostile and remote environments.
Based on ‘Tactical Casualty Care Course’ (TCCC) concepts as well as many years operational experience, the hands on medical training will provide participants a solid foundation to treat fellow colleagues at the point of injury whether this may be a stabbing, gunshot, or motor vehicle accident. Typically, the course will cover topics such casualty assessment, airway management, hemorrhage control and fracture management.
Included in this hostile environment training are other medically related topics such as water purification, medical considerations before the trip and commonly encountered diseases in primitive locations. The pioneer medical training integrates elements of emergency medicine along with elements of preventative medicine to provide a deeper understanding of the medical process to course participants. This approach translates directly to increased success of the person when working in an austere or primitive environment.
